Awesome Dark Eldar from La Forge de Baramyne et Do (https://laforgedebaramyneetdd.blogspot.ru/) And they are here for a reason. It's time to finally find out whether they are capable of doing at least something in the new edition or not...
This weekend is the time for an epic battle between Dark Eldar and Space Wolfs. We are going to play one of the narrative missions from the new editions rulebook - Ambush. Guess, who's gonna be an attacker...
100 powerpoints are the most suitable format for narrative games for now. It could be more, but until we don't know all the units rules by heart it would elongate the game too much.
So, what should a Dark Eldar player take in this new edition?
Power From Pain table, in general, has become a little bit better. No more normal FNP, of course, but other bonuses upgrade close combat well. Does it mean that we should put everything on it?
Yes and no. It's obvious, that the Wolfs will bring a lot of vehicles. And the 3-4 strength of Dark Eldar won't be useful in close combat against it. So, blasters and dark lances are the must. Considering the little number of space marines in squads they can be effective against infantry too.
That's why we take traditional blasterborns on the venom (just like in the photo) and Scourges with heat lances (Haywire is now completely useless). The second Scourge squad has blasters and it's great - no scatter deepstrike has really improved this unit.
Ravager is also useful. Both its versions can be nice - just as it was in previous editions.
We'd like to try planes. Since they've lost protection from ground shots and jink, but have remained the same vulnerable, they look the easiest target. Let's take both to make it clear.
Speaking about the detachment, since we have Dark Eldar, it would be quite logical to take the one, based on Fast Attack. But the Flyers now take the separate slot, so we'll have to take...let's say, Reaver jet bikes in addition to our Scourges. Now they are helpless in the close combat (no more HoW). But let's try them as a fast heat lance platform.
Troops choice is not necessary here, but we'll try witches. Or, better, Bloodbrides (+1 attack to each one for the only 1 pp is great) Just in order to check GW's promise that they are now much better in close combat that they used to be. Marvelous Lelith Hesperax will lead them. She still looks very dangerous. And sexy, of course.
The second HQ will be a Haemonculus with some Grotesques. They will get 6th toughness near him, which is significant. Let's see whether they are still a dangerous unit. Sure, both "death stars" take Raiders.
The vehicles look extremely vulnerable without jink. It's a mystery, how it's supposed to survive with such small toughness. Well. let's see.
There are quite a lot of units for these power points. That's nice, Dark Eldar are not the most expensive army. It means, we can afford some casualties... So, looking forward to the game!
